Lankatilaka, Gadaladeniya & Embekke Circuit

Three 14th-century temples within a few kilometres of each other in the Kandyan hills, and collectively far more rewarding than anything in Kandy town. Lankatilaka is a brick and stone hall on a rock with a Dravidian-influenced façade; Gadaladeniya is carved stone in the South Indian manner; Embekke has the finest wooden pillar carvings in Sri Lanka. Between them they explain more about Kandyan art than any museum.
