Gangaramaya & Seema Malaka

Gangaramaya is a magpie of a temple, Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian and Chinese elements piled together alongside a museum of donated curiosities that runs from vintage Rolls-Royces to a hall of Buddha images. Its counterpart, the Seema Malaka, floats on platforms in Beira Lake and is the opposite in every way: three simple pavilions designed by Geoffrey Bawa, almost empty, and unexpectedly still.
