Hiriwadunna Village Trek

The standard-setting village experience: a bullock cart along a bund road, a catamaran across the tank, a walk through chena cultivation to a mud-walled house, and a rice-and-curry lunch cooked over firewood and eaten with your fingers off a lotus leaf. Thoroughly organised and unapologetically for visitors, but the family are real, the food is excellent, and children love it.
