The continental shelf drops away steeply just south of Dondra Head, which brings blue whales — the largest animal that has ever lived — within an hour of shore. Sperm whales, Bryde's whales and superpods of spinner dolphins are all regular. Sightings run above 80% in season. Choose an operator that keeps the 100 m distance rule; several do not.
