Negombo Dutch Fort Gate & Old Canal

All that remains of the Dutch fort of 1672 is its gateway, now standing in the grounds of the town prison. More rewarding is the Hamilton Canal beside it, dug by the Dutch to move cinnamon to Colombo and still worked by outrigger canoes at dawn.
