About This Tour

Day 1 begins in Kalpitiya, with your arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, where your driver greets you for a scenic journey up the western coast to this tranquil peninsula known for its lagoons and marine life; after settling into your hotel, you spend a relaxing afternoon by the calm waters of Kalpitiya Lagoon, easing into Sri Lanka’s coastal charm. Day 2 takes you inland to Anuradhapura, the island’s first capital and a UNESCO-listed sacred city filled with towering stupas and ancient monasteries that reflect the roots of early Buddhism, before continuing in the afternoon for an exciting jeep safari through Wilpattu National Park, the country’s largest national park, where leopards, sloth bears, and elephants roam among natural lakes. Day 3 continues east into the Cultural Triangle around Dambulla, where you begin with an immersive village tour to experience rural life, traditional farming, and authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, followed by an afternoon hike up Pidurangala Rock for a breathtaking sunset view with Sigiriya Rock Fortress rising dramatically in the distance. Day 4 remains in the Sigiriya/Dambulla region, starting early with a climb up the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, where ancient frescoes, landscaped water gardens, and sweeping views reveal the grandeur of this 5th-century royal palace, followed by a visit to the UNESCO-listed Dambulla Cave Temple, a complex of five caves adorned with vibrant murals and over 150 Buddha statues carved into the rock. Day 5 leads you through scenic countryside to Kandy, the last royal capital, beginning with a fragrant spice garden walk to learn about cinnamon, cardamom, and pepper, then continuing to explore the Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya before visiting the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, and concluding with your transfer back to Bandaranaike International Airport for departure.
