Day 1 begins with your arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, where your driver meets you for the short transfer to Colombo, and you spend the rest of the day at leisure recovering from your flight, perhaps enjoying a stroll along Galle Face Green or visiting a local restaurant for your first taste of Sri Lankan cuisine; Day 2 takes you north through coconut country to Wilpattu National Park, the island’s largest national park, where you embark on a thrilling jeep safari through its lake-dotted landscapes in search of leopards, sloth bears, elephants, and diverse birdlife before settling into your lodge for the night; Day 3 continues east into the Cultural Triangle to Sigiriya Rock Fortress, where you spend the day climbing this remarkable 5th-century royal citadel, passing landscaped water gardens, ancient frescoes of the Heavenly Maidens, and the iconic lion’s paws to reach the summit with sweeping panoramic views; Day 4 offers a more relaxed pace in the same region with a visit to the UNESCO-listed Dambulla Cave Temple, famed for its vivid murals and over 150 Buddha statues carved into the rock, followed by a leisurely tuk-tuk ride through nearby villages, paddy fields, and lakeside trails; Day 5 brings a journey east to Trincomalee on the pristine northeast coast, where you check into a beachfront hotel near Nilaveli or Uppuveli and spend the rest of the day unwinding on soft sands, swimming in the calm turquoise waters, and enjoying a sunset seafood dinner; Day 6 concludes with a scenic drive back to the west coast to Negombo, where you explore the tranquil Negombo Lagoon on a boat ride among mangroves and waterbirds before transferring back to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure flight.
