Best season
Year-round; ironwood flowering April-May
The largest rose-quartz mountain range in South Asia, sitting inside the largest ironwood forest in Sri Lanka. The walk climbs through na trees planted by 8th-century monks to a summit of pink crystal outcrops — genuinely pink, especially in low sun — with the dry-zone plain spread out below. Local tradition says the quartz was quarried for the Taj Mahal.
