Kudumbigala Forest Monastery

A 2nd-century BCE hermitage of some 200 caves scattered through boulder country on the edge of Kumana, with a short scramble to a dagoba on a granite dome. From the top there is jungle in every direction, the lagoons of Kumana to the south, and no sign of any road. One of the most atmospheric places on the island.
