Munneswaram Temple

One of the five Ishwarams, and in the Ramayana the temple where Rama stopped after killing Ravana — the killing of a brahmin having incurred a curse that only Shiva could lift. He is said to have prayed here, been instructed to install four lingams, and been released. The complex is large, active and genuinely atmospheric at evening puja.
