Muthurajawela Marsh Boat Safari

Sri Lanka's largest coastal peat bog, where the Negombo lagoon fingers inland into a maze of mangrove channels. A slow boat gets you close to water monitors, purple-faced langur and — on a good morning — over sixty bird species, all within forty minutes of the international airport. It is by far the best use of a first or last half-day on the island.
