Sithulpawwa Rock Temple

A 2,200-year-old forest monastery on a rock outcrop inside the Yala buffer zone, once home to twelve thousand monks. The drive in crosses open scrub where elephant and buffalo are routine, so the approach is effectively a free safari, and from the summit dagoba there is nothing but wilderness in every direction.
