Thanthirimale Rock Temple

A rock temple on the route the Bodhi sapling took from the coast to Anuradhapura in the 3rd century BCE, with a reclining Buddha and a seated Buddha carved directly from the boulders and a scatter of prehistoric burial sites nearby. It sits on the edge of the Wilpattu wilderness, so the drive there is half the experience.
