Handunugoda Tea Estate

The only estate in the world producing virgin white tea by the old Chinese protocol — leaves cut with gold scissors and never touched by hand. It sits at sea level among cinnamon and rubber rather than in the hills, so it gives south-coast itineraries a tea experience without a four-hour drive inland. The tasting, on a colonial verandah with tea-infused chocolate cake, is generous and unhurried.
