Keerimalai Hot Spring, located near the northern coast of Jaffna, is a sacred and therapeutic site renowned for its natural spring water believed to have healing properties. Nestled beside the sea and adjacent to the ancient Naguleswaram Shiva Temple, the spring has been a spiritual and cultural destination for centuries. According to local legend, the waters cured a sage with a disfigured face—hence the name Keerimalai (meaning “mongoose hill” in Tamil). The spring flows from underground rock formations and remains separate from the nearby seawater, maintaining a consistent temperature year-round. Visitors, both pilgrims and tourists, come to bathe in the pools for spiritual purification, relaxation, and to experience a unique blend of natural wonder and cultural tradition in a serene coastal setting.
