Wewurukannala Vihara

A 50-metre seated Buddha, the tallest in Sri Lanka, reached by climbing an internal staircase to a viewing hatch at head height. Getting there means walking a tunnel of life-sized dioramas depicting the Buddhist hells in extremely literal detail — memorable, and not for very small children.
